Trainer Larissa Laffey
Larissa Laffey grew up at Evenstride Ltd. in Byfield, Massachusetts, as the daughter of two horse-loving horse trainers. Which means she’s been involved with all aspects of horsecare, training, showing and eventing for more than a quarter century.
As a Junior Rider she was focused on Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation, competing on the East coast and on a national level at the Junior Hunter Finals, USEF National Medal, ASPCA Maclay Regionals, as well as numerous regional Medal Finals. And she certainly became proficient at those competitive skills.
With a particular affinity for horsemanship, Larissa won the New England Equitation Championship Horsemanship Competition (the predecessor to the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge). What’s more, she continues to write the yearly written test.
Larissa was recruited to ride for Kansas State University’s Division I NCAA Equestrian team and earned First Team All American Academic honors and Honorable Mention All American Athletic honors. During college, Larissa competed with her Thoroughbred project mare, Hepburn. She competed in Kansas, Missouri, and Kentucky, where she qualified for, and competed in, the American Eventing Championships. All the while she studied Chemical Engineering, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Larissa focuses on developing and improving confidence in riders and horses at all levels, with a particular passion for strengthening the connection and communication between horse and rider. Her experience across so many disciplines helps her to deliver a well-rounded education, for you.
